This series of books is like Cheetos - everyone else recognizes that it's sheer garbage, yet having rounded 30, I'm still shamefacedly devouring them. Thought it might drive home the ridiculousness of this book.
Rant is below if you're interested.and sorry about all the caps stuff. But until these revelations do come to fruition (pun intended), I'm just going to keep updating my Goodreads and having beers with the people I enjoy spending my time with and not worry too much about it.
If everything inside this comes true, we're really in for it. But honestly, all the "10 MILLION TO 1 ODDS!!!" he's blasting out at the reader sound forced, overly doomsday-ish, and in that sense, extremely unreliable. You pick this claptrap up, you want to believe that there is some semblance of a code buried within the Bible. I love conspiracy theories at heart and anyone who reads this does too. Everything is, "This could mean (fill in over-the-top, jump-the-shark, earth-shatteringly-awful conclusion)" and the next sentence reads "AND THIS WAS IN THE BIBLE FOR NEARLY 3,000 YEARS!!!" I'm going to be serious here and stare the truth in the face. What a jerk for giving us no arguable proof either way, right? Right. Here's the crappy thing: Whatever theory he happens to be asserting, Drosnin makes it so that the outcome he puts forth is inevitable UNLESS we pay heed to his code, in which case it might not actually happen. Everything is, "This could mean (fill in over-the-top, jump-the-shark, earth-shatter I'm going to keep my previous rant attached as exiting this book, I feel the same as when I entered it.

It’s basically unfinished and leaves the reader with frustration because he doesn’t follow up to let the reader know if any government actually acted on the Yemen base. Don’t waste your money, nothing gets resolved in this 8 year old book. He brings up a code key in book two, doesn’t mention it again until the end of book three, and still doesn’t have it (because it’s in Jordan where he can’t get permission to dig.) it’s all hypothetical until he can get the proof there really is a key in an iron ark buried in Lisan. In this book he actually refers to Obama as the Messiah and the savior of the world. In the second book he’s talking about aliens encoding the Bible, because obviously there’s no God. He brings up a code key in book two, doesn’t mention it again until the end of book three, and still doesn’t have it (because it’s in Jordan where he can’t get permission to dig.) it’s all hypothetical until he can get the proof there really is a key i I’ve read all three and this was by far the worst.
